LIFE THOUGHTS
Sometimes we’re up … sometimes we’re down
Sometimes we smile … sometimes we frown
Sometimes the world … is an awful place
Sometimes its somewhere … that lights up our face
Sometimes we want things … we can’t attain
Sometimes things happen … that we can’t explain
Sometimes experiences … are so unreal
Sometimes a person … fills us with appeal
Sometimes we ponder … as we face a new dawn
Sometimes uplifted … as a new babe is born
Sometimes there are things … that we really desire
Sometimes they turn out … not worth the fire
Sometimes however … something special occurs
Sometimes the moment … we’ve wanted for years

SLOW DOWN
Do we create with techno-leaps
Or just provide less time for sleep?
Less time to see the beauty there….
No room for contemplation … care …
Phil Sanders
STEALTH BOMBER
Blurring sight in flight
Speeding through the night
A wicked bird of war
Impregnable .. no flaws
Until the techno-babble grows
And scientific genius flows
Producing deadlier killing birds
To rule the skies … silent … no words
Phil Sanders
WHY WARS?
We still see peoples at war
So full of fire and hate
As men with lurid weapons
To others will dictate
No thought … negotiation
No understanding shown
Just the blast of heavy weapons
And human bodies blown
The point of it? … its lost on me
That centuries of hate
Can still this lovely world of ours …
Despoil and desecrate

WATERFALLS OF LIFE
Life begins as a little stream … forged out of the hillside of motherhood
Nurtured through the stepping stones of childhood
Flowing through the valley of life .. with its twists and turns
Until … it reaches the estuary of fulfilment
Then it drifts into the unknown sea …
Onwards to the everlasting ocean ……
Phil Sanders
THE WALL
A wall surrounds me
Release me … please
Provide me with love……
Give my life ease
See to my needs
Banish my woes
Give me that comfort ……..
As through life I go
Phil Sanders
DREAMS IN A DARKENED ROOM
The lights dim in the darkened room
And very soon … so very soon
The images of night and day……..
Merge as one in such a way …..
That parallels become a line
Distortions slowly do unwind
The peace and gentle thoughts so deep
Induce the mind to restful sleep
To dance and dream and oft times play….
Awaiting morning’s break of day …….
Phil Sanders
EARLY MORNING IN THE GARDEN
Seven thirty ….. peace and quiet
Drinking in the calling of the birds and wakening sun
Recharging the batteries … smelling the freshness of the morning
A chance to let my mind be stilled ……..
To be set free for that moment in time ………
To hear one’s heart beat ………alone …..
Phil Sanders
DREAMY NIGHT
Drifting soulfully through my dreams
Now and then … it seems.
As though the tide of life
Is only full of strife
A maze of contradiction
Never ending predilection
Until the morning dawns ……
Shedding light in endless yawns
Phil Sanders
CHILDREN'S DREAMS
Sleep at peace my little ones
‘Til the dawning of the sun
Reaping joy from dreams sublime
With the passing of night time
Playing games and having fun
Football matches you have won
Achievements reached … mountains climbed
Things to do … lots of time
Enjoy these days … these times so free…
Before the world encompass thee
Phil Sanders
CAROUSELS AND BUMPER CARS
The bright lights flash
The noise is fierce
Excitement fills the air
The children’s eyes
Reflect the joy
That they are seeing there
The cars go bump
The wheels spin round
And candy floss drifts by
Kaleidoscopic images
Fill the darkened skies
And as they wend
Their way back home
With laughter, squeals and joy
It’s all encapsulated
In those small, triumphant toys

My Poetry
This is a selection of my poetry on a wide variety of subjects.I hope that you enjoy it and maybe find some inspiration in some of the verses.

THE POET
The poet bares his soul to the world
Opening himself to minute examination
His thoughts to be sifted and sorted
Interpretation put on every word
But have no fear from these deliberations
Just pleasure … from whatever pleasure is gleaned
For the written word is his chariot …
To carry his thoughts across the minds of men
